The bad boy of Dubstep is coming to Edmonton this Sunday. This is gonna be a great party if Rusko brings his A game. If I can make the comparison here, for all you old schoolers, Rusko is like the Carl Cox of Dubstep.

If you’re holding out for one party/event this month….this is the one. Nero is Dubstep, but you don’t have to be a hardcore fan of the genre to dig this sound. So if you’re new to the Dubstep sound, or you want to introduce people to it, this is where you should be. Nobody understands Dubstep until you hear it at a party (just like DnB and Electro).
Those who know the sound of the wobble….know Nero. I don’t have to explain it at all. One of the best Dubstep producer/Djs I’ve ever heard.

I’ve come to hate many a trance DJ/Producer….but never PVD. He’s one of the first people I’ve ever reached out to in the industry back in the late 1990s. Always the pioneer…nice guy….the face of modern pop electronic (in my opinion…he towers over Tiesto). A show to see!!!
Remember this Canadian Buzz band of the 1990s? BV3 was really popular for a while, then everyone forgot about them. Sad, because they were everything you could ask of a band. They were eclectic, with styles from hip hop to dub to house.
They are best know for their songs: “Drinking in LA” and “Afrodiziak.”
“Problems” was a much harder edged punk track. I Really love it, but it’s short and not dancefloor friendly. So check out the Opium For The Masses remix as well, it was supposed to be the dance solution. Unfortunately, only a few DJs picked up the remix when it came out in 2005.

Oct 2: Bar 9 and Phatcat @ Buffalo
Future Roots Records presents Headsmashedin Dubstep All Stars @ Buffalo
Featuring Bar 9 (UK) and Edmonton’s own Phatcat
Our own local crew from Future Roots Records is bringing this banger party. If you haven’t heard of the label/promoters….you should:
If you were living in the U.S. during the 2000s, you might remember how it felt to be programmed. If you did not fall in line with the others you would be left to suffer for your individuality.
Your job (or patriotic duty) was to work as a slave for your corporate owner. After losing part of your humanity enslaving yourself, all you wished to do was remain part of the dwindling middle class. In America, you could feel that sensation “of belonging” by following the demands of the daily streams of propaganda.
Consume and buy! If you couldn’t afford it, you were expected to tap your credit and go into debt.
Because Americans were to afraid to say it (because we were all being “watched”), Adam Freeland did it from the UK.
Looking back….they got our souls. Most working people have nothing left to give, especially with the carrot of success no longer dangling in front of them.
Cosmo Vitelli - Robot Soul
Black Strobe Remix
Let’s not forget to give credit to the remixers (who also produced originals of their own.
Cosmo Vitelli came out with this track but it lacked the true luster it deserved. It’s a sad song and Black Strobe made that happen. One of my all time favorite remixes.
Mar 6: 12th Planet @ The Temple
Oh Snap, Party Alarma and Renegade Bass present Battle of the Bassline with 12th Planet and Esmko
12th Planet John started over from scratch. After seven years touring the world as Drum n Bass maestro Infiltrata, after winning over icons such as Goldie, Photek, and DJ Craze, John Dadzie gave himself a new name, a new sound, and a new determination.
It was 2005 and the gentile beatmaker was inspired by sounds he heard spun by the likes Technical Itch, Skream and Benga. It was dubstep. And it was his calling.
Once 12th Planet is born, the story really begins. The British dubstep movement takes hold in LA thanks to 12th Planet and the events he aligns himself with; Smog, Media Contender, HARD, and his own club night Dubtroit.
Like the mythological twelfth planet (popularized by controversial author Zecharia Sitchin), our 12th Planet flies perpendicular to the system. His wicked beats are off axis. His subsonic frequencies surround you in their own orbit. America’s first king of dubstep is ready for impact.
12th planet comes from the Summerian / Akkadian archeologist and Semite linguist Zacharia Sitchin. He was the first person to decode Mesopotamian hieroglyphics. This includes Babylon, Akkad, Sumeria, and Assyria. Anyone who knows history can tell you that the first “civilization” in the world was the ancient Mesopotamians. The term 12th planet refers to a planet that orbits our solar system on a bi-eliptical orbit, and comes around once every 4500 years. A very long time ago according to sitchin. The 12th planet “Nibiru” crashed into Marduk and created earth. - Tom Nitrous (read less)
I already love Ellie Goulding’s songs, but this remix goes above and beyond. Jakwob lays down one of the sickest basslines I’ve ever heard in his remix. I can’t stop playing it all day long - it’s really that good.
Jakwob does the Dub Step sound of electronic music. Dub Step is basically 120-180 beats per minute songs in half-step - so they sound slower. Dub Step mixes really well in DJ sets because you can mix them in perfectly, and they let you slow down your dancing pace. Drop the Lime spun this track when he dropped his 2009 set in Edmonton.
8882 170 St NW Edmonton, AB T5T Canada 780489SHOW Doors open at 7:00pm
I’ve seen Moby spin a DJ set before, it was great. This guy is like the O.G. of electronic music. His sets vary, so you never know what you’re going to hear; unlike his Live P.A. shows, where you’ll hear his music only (and his songs are legendary).

Moby
Richard Melville Hall (born September 11, 1965) better known by his stage name Moby is an American DJ, singer-songwriter and musician. He plays keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drums. After eight top 40 singles in the UK in the 1990s he released the album Play, in 1999, which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. His follow up albums, 18, Hotel, and Last Night sold 6 million copies and have achieved gold and platinum status in over 30 countries.
Hall was born in Harlem, New York, and raised by his mother in Darien, Connecticut.
According to Hall, his middle name and the nickname “Moby” were given to him by his parents because of an ancestral relationship to Moby Dick author Herman Melville: “The basis for Richard Melville Hall – and for Moby – is that supposedly Herman Melville was my great-great-great-granduncle.” He has also released music under the names Voodoo Child, Schaumgummi, and as a member of the bands Vatican Commandos, AWOL, Caeli Seoul and Gin Train. He performs frequently in the New York club scene, often at events known as Degenerates.-Das Capital
